7th Chopin Festival Hamburg 2025

We present the prizewinners and participants of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw — one of the oldest and most prestigious music competitions, held every five years since 1927. Young laureates of the Chopin Competitions in Granada and Hanover will also perform. A special highlight is the Chopin Marathon at the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg, featuring seven recitals by participants of this year’s competition, which will take place in October in Warsaw. Historical pianos will also be heard during the matinee at the Museum of Arts and Crafts Hamburg.

Dear festival visitors,

Each year, the Chopin Society Hamburg & Sachsenwald invites you to the Chopin Festival, which it has been organizing since 2018. In this 7th edition, we present a special program tracing the path of the 19th International F. Chopin Piano Competition, which will take place in October in Warsaw.

Last year, we opened the festival with the silent film *La valse de l'adieu* about Chopin, produced in 1927. It was precisely in that year that the first Chopin Competition was held, which has since taken place every five years in Warsaw.

We will introduce you to prizewinners from various editions of the Chopin Competition, as well as some of this year's participants. Young laureates of the Chopin Competitions in Granada and Hanover will also perform.

An intense dose of Chopin awaits you at the Chopin Marathon, held at the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg. This consists of a series of seven recitals performed by participants of this year’s Chopin Competition in Warsaw.

At the Museum of Arts and Crafts Hamburg, you will experience the sound of historical pianos from the 19th century. Of course, the modern Shigeru Kawai grand piano will also be heard — in the Laeiszhalle, at the HfMT, and in the museum’s Mirror Hall.

Also not to be missed: two masterclasses, where students of the HfMT Hamburg will be taught by renowned artists.

Look forward to the festival and enjoy the sound of the Chopin Competitions!

You are warmly invited!
