7th Chopin Festival Hamburg 2025
We present the winners and participants of the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious music competitions, which has been held every five years since 1927. Young prizewinners of the Chopin competitions in Granada and Hanover will also perform. A special event is the Chopin Marathon at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, with seven recitals by participants in this year's competition, which will take place in Warsaw in October. Period pianos will also resound during the matinee at the Museum für Kunst & Gewerbe Hamburg.
Dear festival visitors,
every year, the Chopin Society Hamburg & Sachsenwald invites you to the Chopin Festival, which it has been organising since 2018. At this 7th edition we present a special programme on the traces of the 19th International F. Chopin Piano Competition, which will take place in Warsaw in October.
Last year, we opened the festival with the silent film "La valse de l'adieu" about Chopin, which was made in 1927. It was in this very year that the first Chopin Competition was held, and since then it has taken place every five years in Warsaw.
We present the winners from different years of the Chopin Competition as well as some of this year's participants. Young prizewinners of the Chopin competitions in Granada and Hanover will also perform.
You can immerse yourself in the world of Chopin at the Chopin Marathon, which takes place at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. It is a series of seven recitals played by participants in this year's Chopin Competition in Warsaw.
The sound of historical 19th century pianos can be experienced at the Museum für Kunst & Gewerbe Hamburg. Of course, the modern Shigeru Kawai grand piano will also be heard in the Laeiszhalle, the HfMT and the Spiegelsaal of the museum.
Also to attend: two masterclasses in which students of the HfMT Hamburg are taught by renowned artists.
Look forward to the festival and enjoy the sound of the Chopin competitions!
We cordially invite you!

Artistic Director of the Chopin Festival Hamburg President of the Chopin Society Hamburg & Sachsenwald
